Love it or loathe it, season 8 of The Walking Dead will be available to pick up on Blu-ray and DVD from August 21st.
That means viewers will get the chance to binge through it all over again in anticipation of The Walking Dead‘s ninth installment, which looks set to herald a major sea change for the AMC drama. Not only is Andrew Lincoln expected to hang up his sheriff’s hat once and for all – word is his on-screen leader, Rick Grimes, will appear in just six episodes of the new season – but we’ve since learned that Laura Cohen (Maggie Rhee) will follow him out the exit door.
In doing so, Lincoln has opened up the field for Norman Reedus to come in as the show’s new leading man, while we heard just yesterday that Jon Bernthal (Shane Walsh) has booked his place for The Walking Dead season 8.
Suffice it to say, 2018 will mark a defining year for The Walking Dead, and it remains to be seen whether AMC’s flagship will be able to retain the same viewing figures without Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes front and center. Either way, here’s a rundown of the season 8 Blu-ray, though there’s currently no mention of the inevitable special features. Chances are they’ll include some of the scenes cut from last year’s gripping finale. Or so says Greg Nicotero…

As always, fans will have a few options to choose from in the type of Blu-Ray/DVD package they want. Most retailers like Amazon and Target will sell it with a cover featuring Rick, Daryl, and Michonne. But if they purchase at Best Buy, they’ll get a unique cover featuring just Rick and Negan battling one-on-one, similar to their final battle in the Season 8 Finale.
Look for The Walking Dead season 8 to hit Blu-ray and DVD on August 21st.
