The week on The Vampire Diaries, Elena (Nina Dobev) proves once again how determined she is to save her love, Stefan (Paul Wesley), from the clutches of an equally determined Klaus (Joseph Morgan).

Elena is still on a mission to bring Stefan back from the dark side even after she finds out that he is responsible for the death of Damon’s faux-girlfriend, Andie Star (Dawn Olivieri). A distraught Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is ready to throw in the towel after his last unfriendly run-in with his brother. He seems to think that without his help, Elena might give up and move on. Wrong!

Elena heads right to Alaric (Matt Davis), who is still reeling from the recent events and has pretty much given up on himself. Against his better judgment, Alaric agrees to come along for a hike in the Rocky Mountains to track down a pack of werewolves before the full moon peaks.

Meanwhile, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) needs some help of his own. Jeremy goes to Matt (Zach Roerig), convinced that they can somehow help his deceased vamp/sister, Vicki (Kayla Ewell). Matt is hesitant at first, but when some supernatural sign appears, he is more inclined to believe.

Tyler (Michael Trevino) discovers that his mother slipped him vervain in his morning coffee and confronts her. This emotional situation leads him to reveal his werewolf secret in order to save Caroline (Candice Accola), who is being held somewhere under his mother’s orders.

Meanwhile, Klaus is on a mission to create an army of vampire-werewolf hybrids convinced that he followed all the rules – kill a vampire, kill a werewolf, kill the doppelganger.  When things go arry, he admits that Stefan is his only comrade and saves him from the werewolf bite he received helping him with his plan. Unbeknownst to Klaus, Stefan also saved his brother on the trip after Damon uses himself as a diversion for Elena and Alaric to escape safely.

While waiting in the car for Damon, unsure of his current state, Elena makes a desperate plea to Alaric, telling him that they’re all lost. Her words convince him to rethink his stance on family and he makes a more permanent move back to the Gilbert residence, checking in as the psuedo-parent in their lives.

Elsewhere, Damon and Elena share an emotional and perhaps more-than-slightly romantic final moment. Damon agrees to continue helping Elena after his hope for his redemption is reignited, but after Elena confesses that she worries about him, Damon reminds her of the feelings that she might not be so forthcoming with.

Finally, in the last scene, we see a trapped Caroline chained to a chair only to discover her captor is really her father. Shocker!

This week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries gave fans a little more Delena lovefest to hold on to. Katherine’s (Nina Dobrev) words “It’s ok to love them both. I did,” seem to be coming true as Elena contemplates what her feelings might mean. I guess we will just have to wait and see if the writers let us have a little more of our favorite star-crossed couple.

And how about that final scene? We can only hope that after the major shocker with Caroline’s father, things turn out alright, it’s awfully early in the season to lose a series regular, don’t you think?
