Specifically, the Kingpin himself, Vincent D’Onofrio, announced on Twitter that he’s wrapped work for the season, marking the moment with a teasing picture of his closed fist. He captioned his post, “I wrapped on DD last night. What we have coming for you is really something.”

Of course, D’Onofrio first appeared as Wilson Fisk, the arch-enemy of Matt Murdock, in the debut season of Daredevil back in 2015, proving to be one of the finest villains in the whole MCU. He only played a supporting role in the second season, but the third run looks to see him come back with a vengeance. Last time we saw Fisk, he seemed to be putting two and two together and had realized that the pesky lawyer and vigilante who kept interfering in his schemes are actually one and the same person.

This, and where Murdock was left in the finale of The Defenders, leads us to believe that season 3 will loosely adapt the “Born Again” storyline from the comics, which sees the Kingpin attempt to destroy his enemy once and for all. If done right, this could be the most dramatic, thrilling and darkest season of the show yet, so let’s hope D’Onofrio’s promise that it’s “really something” turns out to be bang on the money.

Another reason to be excited for Daredevil season 3 is the fact that the Man Without Fear’s other nemesis is making his MCU debut for the first time. Winston Bethel will playing the role of the deadshot assassin Bullseye and it’s thought that he’ll be hired by Fisk to take down the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.

We don’t know for sure just yet when Matt Murdock will be back on the streaming service, but a late 2018 premiere seems likely at this point. As always, watch this space for more.
