Fans of the canceled Netflix series Warrior Nun are trending on Twitter with a campaign to renew the much-loved show.
Warrior Nun die-hards organized to post a barrage of tweets demanding that the streaming giant bring back the series for a third season. The fans want Netflix to recognize that their social media movement has produced a staggering 10 million tweets to refute the streaming giant’s claim that the show had a small audience.
To draw attention to their achievement and distinguish their new campaign from previous ones, they tweeted the cryptic slogan, “Eat a banuna,” with the hashtags #ThankYouSimon #SaveWarriorNun, and #WarriorNun
It wasn’t long before the tweets dominated Twitter timelines and saw the bizarre tagline went viral.
Not even the original internet daddy himself could sway fans’ resolve as oneĀ aficionadoĀ responded to news of Oscar Isaac’s new project with a tweet stating that Netflix has lost all meaning since it canceled Warrior Nun.
Showrunner Simon Barry got in on the fun and treated the fandom to two previously unseen pages from the screenplay from what would have been a scene from the third season.
Netflix has yet to respond to the Warrior Nun fandom. Whether or not they change their minds about renewing the series remains to be seen.
Regardless of what happens, the campaign is a credit to the quality of Netflix’s original series. Rarely are fans as engaged and determined about a tv show as the Warrior Nun community. Their passion for the series confirms the excellence and hard work of everyone who worked on the show.
