‘We did what we had to’: FX isn’t even trying to hide what ‘The Bear’ is truly about, and it’s not cooking

Well, we're not about to complain.

FX’s The Bear has undeniably become one of the biggest hits hailing from the channel. Some may suspect the popularity lies in the unique premise at a restaurant, while others talk about the phenomenal writing, but a TikTok user may just have found the real recipe for success.

As the user @addamsfilm would swiftly point out, the real marketing of the show lies in everything but cooking. Through an edit posted on TikTok, the user shows the real money maker lies in having the hottest line cooks in town going berserk on food, namely, the Michelin star cooks Carmy and Luca, portrayed by Jeremy Allen White and Will Poulter, respectively. After all, who can complain about having eye candy making candy on television?

While the show doesn’t necessarily focus on the characters’ good looks, instead showing them just be average Joes who are aces at their game, it is almost obvious that the choice to cast White and Poulters’ good looks and toned figures was very intentional, and it would undoubtedly catch some eyes. So much so, that FX Networks commented on the post, saying they “did what [they] had to do.” Talk about genius marketing.

Honestly, we can’t blame them for it. After all, that edit alone has already been luring fans in, who have flooded the comment section of the TikTok video with their wish to finally watch the show, obviously hoping to catch more than the brilliant plot and tasty food shots and all it took was having Poulter portraying the tattooed chef to make the most compelling argument of all.

If you’re also hoping to get a glimpse of the most alluring line cooks in Chicago, The Bear is available to stream on Hulu.
