We are, at the time of writing, one week shy from October and with it, the beginning of Halloween celebrations across the globe. Such festive activities often feed into a studio’s scheduling, explaining why there’s practically always some form of Blumhouse horror pic crowding up theaters year in, year out.
Hopping aboard that gravy train this year is WGN America, after conjuring up a new trailer for Salem season 3 during the week. Hatched by Brannon Braga and Adam Simon, the network’s horror series is veering into an all-new chapter that “dawns with the triumph of the witches’ plan to remake the New World by bringing the devil to earth and making Salem his capital. But the devil is a liar, and instead of a New World free from murderous Puritan hypocrisy, his own plan will bring nothing but death and slavery with the ultimate aim of leading humanity to destroy itself.”
As for that new trailer, it’s about as dark and brooding as we’ve come to expect from WGN’s nerve-shredding series, heralding the end of days as the devil tightens his grip on Massachusetts. Bearing witness to that supernatural reckoning are Janet Montgomery, Shane West, Seth Gabel, Ashley Madekwe, Tamzin Merchant, Elise Eberle, Iddo Goldberg, Joe Doyle and Oliver Bell. Marilyn Manson, meanwhile, is expected to guest star on Salem season 3 come November.
If you’re hoping to revel in the Halloween spirit long after October 31, look no further than Salem season 3. It’s due to premiere on WGN come November 2, and we’ll be keeping tabs as the show nears its return.
